Q: what cars are comparable to the nissan maxima?
Within the next year I am planning on getting a new car. I really like the Nissan Maxima, but I would really like other cars to compare it to. What other cars are comparable to the Nissan Maxima, as far as price, quality, appearance, etc….

Q: What is a good site to get instructions for Nissan Maxima repairs?
I have a 97 nissan maxima and I’d like to avoid the auto shop as much as possible. I’m looking for a definitive website that has clear step by step instructions for everything from changing spark plugs to changing engines. Any suggestions? Thanks.

A: Go to your local auto parts store and they should have a haynes or chilton repair manual that will describe and show you everything you will like to do to your vehicle.

A: I paid $960 on ebay for tires and wheels.. 18X8.5

You would probably be happy with 17X7.5 which would cost you about $800.

Just make sure your getting the wheels with tires mounted and balanced. That way you (or one of your friends) can put them on for you and all you will need is an alignment

Q: Can a 2007 Nissan Maxima be outfitted with remote start even though it has the smart key?
I have a 2007 Nissan Maxima and I wanted remote start but I’m not sure if it can be put in because I have the smart key. Any help?

A: Personally I’d check with the/a dealership part/mantience dept….we once went to an independent to install one and a few months later had issues with starting, alarm…. just to name a few….. we just ended up disconnecting the remote

Q: What is the cause of the electrical issues with my 1998 Nissan Maxima?
I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima. Recently I have been having some electrical issues. Sometimes, when I start the car, the speedometer, odometer, A/C, Windows, directionals and heated seats do not have power. However, I will still have power going to my radio, brake lights, head lights, windshield wipers, dash lights, etc. However, after the car runs for a few minutes everything will start working again all at once, and will work fine until I turn the car off and start it up again. Any clue why this may be happening.

A: check the ignition switch connections, then find the fuse,s that operate the failing items , remove them and check holder,s clean the engine earth strap these checks are really as far as you can go , you may well need the auto sparks on this one

I just bought a used Nissian Maxima the enlgine runs fine along with the transmission , but the CV joints are both torn and need to be replaced.. I was looking to keep the price of repairs under 300 dollars . Does anyone Know a reliable car repair center and a good price ?

A: Front Drive Axle half shaft assys. are about $90.00 a piece and about $70.00 a piece labor to install. Try and find a good mom and pop front end shop.

A: No steps, no timing belt. The Max like all late-model Nissan’s uses a Timing Chain, not a belt which never has to be serviced.

Q: How hard is it to change or clean solenoids in a 2001 Nissan Maxima Transmission?
I have got a code on my transmission. How hard is it to change or clean the solenoids in a 2001 Nissan Maxima transmission? how expensive is it?
It is having problems shifting from 2 to 3rd, or 2nd to overdrive. It boggs down like it wants to die.

A: Most often besides the electronic valves the wear on the clutches will be made worse by draining and refilling the gear box. I have worked a long time on Nissan transmissions partial rebuilds mean more trouble just waiting a few weeks months down the road. Remanufactured Nissan Transmission new Radator a couple axles and you will have a lasting repair. Good Luck

Q: How much would a new or used transmission cost for a 1995 Nissan Maxima?
So I went to go have my tires changed and found out from the mechanic that my transmission is slipping and I will eventually need a new one. If I can find one for cheap that would be great, but I just want to set my price range first. So does anyone know how much a transmission for the 95 maxima would normally be?

A: I’m trying to save you alot of money. I have a ‘95 Nissan Maxima with 190,000 miles on it. These cars have really good transmissions so first check the condition of the fluid – it should be red. If it is not, I would suggest you get a drop pan service, in which the filter will be changed and a little more than half the fluid will be changed. This service is usually around $100*

I do not suggest the flush, I don’t trust them. *This is not necessarily why your transmission is slipping. It’s usually attributed to low fluid level. Make sure you don’t have a leak and MAKE SURE the fluid level is correct.

You may also have some minor slipping due to loose (thin) fluid, where the fluid might be red but thin, in which you will want to have the drop pan service as well. If you are unsure how to check the fluid level, get someone who does because for awhile I was unsure of how to check it.

Q: How do I install a custom mirror with LED flashing lights on an 1997 Maxima?
I have a 1997 black Maxima with a damaged side mirror. I was looking at eBay and found a set of mirrors with LED lights that flash when you signal for a turn (like that of the Benz). My concern is installing them. Since the stock mirrors don’t have flashing lights, how am I supposed to wire the mirrors to be able to get a message from the car when it is signaling?

A: You would need to feed the wires through the mirror connection to the door and through the door into the door jamb and through the fender to the turn signal and slice into the wires there. Repeat for the other side.

Q: What does the option button on my automatic car keys do for my 1992 nissan maxima?
I just got a 1992 nissan maxima and there are three buttons. Lock, unlock, and the option button. But i can’t seem to figure out what the option button does.

A: On most car keys if there are more than 2 buttons the 3rd one is usually an auxillery button. If you bought the car and the button you press doesn’t open or turn on or start anything than, more than likely the option button has not been programmed to anything. It can be programmed to open the trunk, start the car, roll the windows up if you have power windows. If there is no panic button it might be that. The panic button is for when your in danger just push hold the button for 3-5 secs and the alarm or horn starts beeping. If not, I would go to your local nissan dealer and inquire about it.
