we are thinking about having a 4th baby. Which requires us getting a new car. We really like the Honda Odyssey, can anyone give me any reviews on it.
A: Looks like you have a choice between a 2007 Oddy on clearance, or waiting for the 2008s to arrive. I don’t think there was a remodel on the 2008, so it’s going to be the same more or less like the 2007.
The Oddy is your basic passenger hauling workhorse. You can upgrade all the way up to the touring model w/ the DVD entertainment and GPS nav and leather seats.
I own a 1999 Oddy, an ancestor of the 2008, marking the major remodel as we know it. It’s got almost 220,000 miles on it and still rolling. Only major repair is the infamous transmission, which went out in 2003 around 93,000. It appears Honda has finally figured out the problem and more recent vintages have not had the tranny problem.
The Oddy reminds of my old Civc hatchback on steroids. Despite the wide and long wheelbase, the setup helps make it hug the road more like a sedan than a lunking minivan.
Obviously the competition (Toyota, Nissan, Chevy, Dodge) has caught up to the Oddy in different ways. However, you know what you’re getting w/ the Oddy: Honda reliability.

Q: How much for New 2008 Honda Odyssey EXL?
I am gonna buy 2008 Honda Odyssey EXL w/o DVD and NAVI system. Dearlers around me are offering around 27k. I am thinking just 26,000. Do I need to stick to this price?
A: That’s a great price, but I’d suggest you try to push them for less… vans, trucks and SUV’s aren’t selling like they used to, so I’m sure they have a ton in stock. We bought our ‘07 Odyssey EX-L last June for $28,300, but I made our salesguy throw in $700 worth of accessories (auto dimming mirror (now standard on ‘08), mats, etc.). Try offering $26k, but if they say no and want a higher price, say you want them to throw in a couple accessories (3rd row window shade, cargo net, etc.) Either way, you’re getting a killer deal, but the answer’s no until you ask! A: Hi any parts store will be able to do that for you ,also the honda dealer will be able to but will cost a little more. Here is the crucial thing if you are doing it your self the 2.3 or 2.4 is very hard filter to get to, the 3.oo 3.5 is much easyer, and the correct oil should be used if your car is near new, get advice from your dealer plus its really not worth trying to save a few dollars because of warrantee if something goes wrong.

and does anybody know anything about it? I’m sure Honda’s keeping it under wraps, but it’s due for an overhaul so I suspect they will release a new one this September. Any info would be appreciated!
A: The all new one comes out next year as a 2011 model.

I just bought a new Honda Odyssey(RB1) fully imported from Japan…This car is equipped with an original Japanese Navigation System and a HDD of course but only for use in Japan as all of the display and word are in Japanese. So is there any option available in Malaysia so that i can reinstall the software for use in Malaysia and of course contain Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand Map for GPS system…
A: Did a Honda dealer import it for you? If they did, they should be able to help you and give you the Navigation CD for Malaysia. If you bought it somewhere else, go to a local Honda dealer and buy a CD from them, and ask them for instructions how to do it yourself.
Q: What colour should the paper in a new fuel filter for Honda Odyssey be?
I have a 2001 JDM Odyssey with a rather strange shape fuel filter. The book recommends replacement at 40,000km intervals. The dealer suggested it didn’t need replacing unless there was a drop in fuel pressure. I decided to replace it anyway. Have now cut into the used filter and found the paper is very brown. Is this indicative of the filter being dirty?
A: not exactly dirty..but used. wether you have drivien 40 thousand, 100 thousand or 500 miles, it will be colored from use. however, the darker it is the more used it is, take a look at some new oil compared to what comes out as a reference.

We been to a couple of dealers and finally settled on 33K for 2010 Honda Odyessey. E-XL. Leather seats and everything except GPS and DVD Player. 33K includes taxes, number plates, destination charge etc. 30,260 invoice price + 6.25% taxes + destination charge ($710) + $150 (documentation charges) is what we arrived at. What do you think?
A: Sounds like a good deal. You done the right thing by going to different dealerships to see what they price for. You can also look at www. carsdirect.com and look up the true invoice price, and build it to your specifications and get a target price. This is a great site even I use all the time. It is not run by a dealer. Give it a try!

A: Any leasing company can do this for you. You will have a higher payment because they will just build in the extra mileage charges. When you are driving that many miles, it may be a better idea to buy the vehicle rather than to lease!

either of them are cheaper and just as good quality
and they get better gas mileage!

Actually, the Entourage is about 200 lbs lighter then the Odyssey. Plus, the Honda’s engine has 9 less horsepower and 11 less foot pounds of torque. MPG rating aren’t that much different either. 16 city 23 highway for the Hyundai, 17 – 25 for the Honda.
So much for the Honda being “superior”.
The Ody is a great, proven van but the concern I would have would be how much of the warranty is left. If it’s not a “certified” Honda it only has a 5 yr 60,000 mile powertrain (engine and transmission) warranty. Hyundai has 10 yrs 100,000 miles.
A big plus for the Entourage as well is that it’s IIHS top safety pick.
Both are good picks but if they are the same price I would pick new over used.
